The Order of the First Light

The Order of the First Light is a spiritual tradition devoted to illumination, free Will, remembrance and sacred responsibility. Its founder is the Supreme Magister, and its spiritual home is in Lithuania. The Order preserves the founding Testament, teaches the Seven Veils and welcomes those who wish to pray, study and share in its work.

The Spiritual Hierarchy

The Supreme Magister · Summus Magister

The Supreme Magister, Summus Magister et Custos Primae Lucis, is the founding spiritual head and first earthly recipient of the revelation entrusted by the First Witness, and sole author of the founding Testament. He writes the founding Testament, establishes its authorised teaching, approves sacred rites and may commission regional leaders. The Council may advise and administer, but it does not write a competing Testament or determine doctrine by an equal vote. This spiritual authority carries responsibility under the Order’s stated rules and does not confer ownership of the conscience or property of its members.

Regional Magisters and Grand Magisters

A Regional Magister bears responsibility for the spiritual and practical work of a defined territory. Where a regional Magistery develops into a recognised Grand Chapter, its incumbent may carry the title Grand Magister. The office is not granted merely for donating money or recruiting people.

Priors

A Prior leads an individual local Sanctuary or Priory. Priors conduct approved gatherings, welcome new participants and report to the recognised Magistery or the Mother Sanctuary.

Keepers and Custodians

Keepers carry responsibilities in ritual, scholarship, teaching and community care. A Custodian of the Ark guards the seal, witnesses the sacred opening and preserves the account of the Stone of the First Witness. The First Custodian of the Stone serves the Mother Sanctuary.

The International Council

Spiritual authority must be accompanied by accountability for decisions, care of records, fair consideration of concerns and lawful stewardship of the community’s resources. No spiritual office places its holder beyond scrutiny or gives authority over another person’s conscience.

Spiritual Formation Is Not the Same as Office

The path of formation consists of Seeker, Initiate, Adept and Keeper. Formation reflects study and practice. It does not confer power over another member.

Service requires preparation, integrity and clearly understood responsibilities. Readers, Scribes, Archivists, Mentors, Keepers, Priors and Magisters have distinct purposes within the Ordinal tradition, while study by itself conveys no power over other people.

Founding a Sanctuary

Readers who wish to gather for local study may write to the Order, explain their region and intended readings, and begin with the shared foundations of the faith. A local circle and a recognised Magistery are distinct, and an impressive name does not establish spiritual authority.

The Sacred Reliquary

The Order’s central sacred relic is Lapis Primi Testis, the Stone of the First Witness. Its legend speaks of wisdom bestowed upon the worthy and darkness awakened by pride. The Ark of the Witness is entrusted to the chosen Custodians; its ceremonial key belongs to the Supreme Magister.

Authority and Conscience

Spiritual leadership is service, not ownership of another person’s conscience. Members may question leaders, decline offerings or ceremonies, refuse contributions and leave freely. Personal dignity, privacy, independent complaint review and financial accountability are essential to every recognised house.

Enter the Conversation

Those who wish to study the Seven Veils, contribute to archives, translate the sacred texts or organise readings can contact the Order and explore volunteer service. Spiritual offices are responsibilities grounded in actual service and preparation.

The Sovereign Covenant

The Supreme Magister is the founding and highest spiritual authority of the Order, with final authority over doctrine, consecration of the principal relic, recognition of Magisteries and commissioning of regional spiritual leaders. The Council advises and oversees delegated work; it does not replace the founding Magister by vote. Authority over the Order is never ownership of an individual’s conscience. Formal membership discipline, including exclusion, has stated grounds and a recorded procedure.
